What Are Cybersecurity Bootcamps?

So, what exactly are cybersecurity Bootcamps? In general, they are like most other Bootcamps out there.

They give you some knowledge and then they expect that knowledge to translate into a career in the field of cybersecurity. Or coding or web development and so on.

But the one thing that sets them apart is that they don’t offer an actual job at the end of these programs. Like most other boot camps do.

Instead, they give you some kind of skillset or certificate to show off on your resume. Then they expect that to translate into a job for you by itself.

That’s why these programs can be pretty expensive. It is because they don’t guarantee anything at the end of this program as most other Bootcamps do.

They usually charge about $10,000 for their programs which can vary from six months. Going to nine months long depending on the program itself.

So again, just like any other tech Bootcamp out there but with some differences here and there. So we will get more into that later on down in the article as well as some pros and cons of these programs.

Also, as well as some alternatives if you want to consider instead of going down this route if it’s right for you or not.

How Do Cybersecurity Bootcamps Work?

In general, it’s like any other boot camp out there. You go to either a co-working space or a classroom and you learn the basics of programming or cybersecurity.

Usually for about 12 hours a day for about six months to nine months long depending on the program itself. And then you are supposed to work on projects or you do something to show that you have learned the material.

Then they give you some kind of certificate at the end of it and they expect that certificate. It is to help you get a job in cybersecurity by itself.

Again, these programs are expensive. So you want to think about whether this is right for you or not before investing your hard-earned money into this.
