Cybersecurity Month In 2020

Cybersecurity Month is a month to teaching about information security and how to keep people safe online. Every week has different themes.

Well, before that, let us learn the basics of cybersecurity.

What is cybersecurity? Cybersecurity is the art of protecting networks, computers, programs, and data.

It is to avoid the following:

  • unauthorized access
  • Misuse
  • Disclosure
  • Disruption
  • Modification
  • Destruction.

This is a broad definition that encompasses both computer security and network security.

What Are The Different Types Of Cybersecurity?

  • Network security

It is the protection of computer networks and their components. It is also called “cyber defense” or “network defense”.

Network security involves protecting data, devices, and networks from hackers. Especially the unauthorized users.

So it is by implementing protective measures to counter network attacks. The primary objective of network security is preventing unauthorized access to or damage to sensitive information or critical systems.

  • Computer security

It is the protection of computers from being damaged, destroyed, or made unusable by a malicious party, such as a hacker. Computer security encompasses all aspects of information security.

Its objective is to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems from internal and external threats. The main focus of computer security is not upon a specific set of technology.

But upon the people involved in creating the technology the human element as well as their interactions with each other.

  • Application security

It is the protection of computer applications, whether desktop from being attack. So that would disrupt its normal operation, such as a denial-of-service attack.

Also, it could compromise its data such as SQL injection attacks. So application security aims to protect every single component that forms an application.

Including the operating system and hardware on which it runs as well as every single piece of code. So that makes up the application itself.

It will include all related libraries and frameworks used by it

Well, now we have understood what cybersecurity is. What are its different types? Now let’s learn what themes are per week of cybersecurity month in October.
