Why Is Cybersecurity Important In Malaysia?

Cybercrime is growing in Malaysia. According to a report by Norton, a cyber security company, cybercrime cost $400 billion in 2013 worldwide. 

The number of people affected by cybercrime is also on the rise. In 2013 alone, 1.7 billion people were by cybercrime, or 48% of the world’s population. 

In Malaysia, according to MCMC, there were 1.7 million victims of cybercrime in 2015. The total damage was estimated at RM2.7 billion (USD708 million).

While the average cost per victim was RM5,063 (USD1,470). While these numbers are alarming, they do not include the amount of money spent by companies.

Cyber Security Malaysia (MCMC):

What Are The Benefits Of Implementing A Cybersecurity In Malaysia? 

Malaysia has one of the most progressive cybersecurity policies in the Asia Pacific region. The country has a national plan for cybersecurity that includes.

  • The development and implementation of a National Plan for Cybersecurity (NPC). 
  • The introduction of a Cybersecurity Act (Act 603) to protect users from online crimes and cybercrimes.
